Feeler set
The feeler is honest against brass, not against a thumbnail.
Every morning Sable zeros the feeler on a brass step we keep on the well-head. If the zero drifted, the log does not open.
A thumbnail is a story. A brass step is a number. Gap is written on the log in tenths of a millimeter at four compass points, long irons and wedges on separate wells, because Crowley Ridge heat does not creep a set evenly.
